What Affects The Capacitance Attenuation Of Capacitors
Due to the increasing number of inductive load devices in the power system, companies have used low-voltage capacitors for compensation. However, during the operation of capacitors, the problem of capacitance attenuation will occur due to various factors. So in the power system, what are the factors that affect the capacitance attenuation of capacitors?
1. Aging under high temperature environment
If the ambient temperature and operating temperature are too high, the internal components of the low-voltage capacitor will be aged at high temperature. The polypropylene metallized film is affected by high temperature aging, and there will be problems such as capacitance attenuation and service life reduction. Therefore, controlling the ambient temperature and improving the ventilation and heat dissipation conditions of the capacitor can reduce the capacitance attenuation of the capacitor.

2. Long-term overcurrent and overcurrent operation
When the capacitor runs with overcurrent for a long time, the internal temperature of the capacitor will rise, and then there will be problems such as accelerated thermal aging of capacitors and serious capacitance attenuation.
When the capacitor runs with overvoltage for a long time, discharge breakdown faults often occur inside the capacitor, which reduces the usable area of the metallized film of the capacitor and slightly reduces the capacitance.
Control the operating parameters of the capacitors to avoid long-term overcurrent and overvoltage operation, and also reduce the degree of capacitance attenuation of capacitors.
3. Harmonic problem
Harmonics will generate harmonic currents and harmonic voltages, which will lead to long-term overcurrent and overvoltage operation of capacitors, which will seriously attenuate the capacitance of the capacitors. Therefore, harmonic control can reduce the attenuation of capacitor capacitance.
In the power system, factors such as temperature, overcurrent operation, overvoltage operation, and harmonics can all cause the capacitance of capacitors to decay. Therefore, it is very necessary to use capacitors in suitable environments.
